SAFETY RULES

 

There are two big rules in Zombie and several small rules - the big rules deal with ethos and the small rules deal with individual situations.  We are hoping to get these written down in a legal disclaimer for players to sign as and when they arrive, but for the moment, it's an understanding.  We don't like to have to remind player of these rules - you're intelligent people - but we do so as a means, primarily, of covering our asses.  Please absorb the following.

 

The small rules will be enforced by GMs on the ground.

 

THE BIG RULES

 

First Big Rule) It is not our fault if anyone gets hurt.  We do not intentionally attack people.  Signing up to play the LARP comes with an agreement that you will not sue us, or the University, for anything that happens while taking part in the game or sitting out a session in the common room.  Not that anything will happen, you understand, but just in case it does.

 

Second Big Rule) Please, please, do not break anything.  If you do break anything, we'd appreciate a refund to purchase a new one.

 

 

THE SMALL RULES

 

1) Do not aim any attacks at the face or head.

 

2) When using melee LARP weapons, pull your blows.

 

3) Never strike, push or grab another participant.

 

4) Do not fight on any stairs.  Similarly, do not run on stairs.  Walk up them and resume a running pace at the top, if necessary.

 

5) No smoking is allowed anywhere in the building.  There are several fire exits which allow access to the outside.

 

6) Do not use a weapon for a purpose it was not designed for.  Do not jam doors with guns or, worse, try to use them as melee weapons.

 

THE SAFETY CALL

 

Should anything happen - you get injured, another player gets injured, or you feel that such circumstances may be imminent - shout "PLAYER DOWN" as loud as you can.  Repeat the process over your team's radio.  This will stop the simulation and we will make sure that any injuries are tended to and everything is alright.  Once we have established equilibrium, the simulation will resume.
